Cell Phone Pre-Paid Service Grows in Thailand.

Feb. 19--Pre-paid subscribers would account for 3.6 million or 72 percent of the five million new customers forecast by Advanced Info Service this year, the biggest provider of cellular services said yesterday.

The company's One-2-call pre-paid service currently has two million users and recently surpassed the total number of post-paid subscribers for the first time.

Since Jan 1, AIS had signed up nearly 550,000 new customers, including 396,000 for One-2-call, 100,000 for GSM Advance and 50,000 for GSM 1800.

Teenagers remained the core users of the pre-paid service, according to Titipong Kheawpaisarn, the manager of the One-2-call division.
