AT&T Wireless Offers Faster GSM Network in Dallas Area.

Feb. 20--AT&T Wireless Services Inc. launched a faster cellular system based on the world's dominant cellphone standard Tuesday in the Dallas area.
But don't expect to hear much about it, because the company doesn't plan to advertise it until it has upgraded its networks in more cities.
In December 2000, AT&T Wireless undertook a multibillion-dollar improvement to move to faster data services and a technology used in most of the world -- the global standard for mobile communications, or GSM.
Rival Cingular Wireless announced a similar plan in October.
