Cox Communications to Raise Fees for Expanded Cable, Internet in Wichita, Kan.

Feb. 22--Cox Communications said Thursday that it will raise rates for its expanded cable TV service by 14 percent in the Wichita area on April 1. It will be the company's second rate hike in a little more than a year.

In addition, Cox's high-speed Internet rates will rise 13 percent for non-cable customers and 17 percent for cable customers.

Kristin Peck, Cox's director of public affairs, said the changes will affect the majority of its customers but would not say how many.

The company has more than 115,000 cable subscribers in Wichita, she said.

Peck said the rate increases are needed to cover the rising costs of doing business....
