Feb. 27--Citing costs associated with discontinuing some beer lines and its tentative reentry into the light-beer market, Boston Beer Co. yesterday reported a slight sales decline and a fourth-quarter loss of $3.1 million, or 19 cents per diluted share, compared with a profit of $1.9 million, or 11 cents a share, for the same quarter a year ago.

The company that brews Samuel Adams Boston Lager saw fourth-quarter costs for advertising and promotions rise after it began testing Sam Adams Light beer last summer. ...
