California Universities Hire Former Agriculture Official As Consultant.

Feb. 27--Richard Rominger, who has held top California and federal posts in agriculture, has been hired -- in his words -- to "be the eyes and ears of the agricultural community" for four of the state's university campuses.
The campuses are California State University, Fresno; California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo; University of California at Davis; and UC Riverside. They'll share the $48,000 cost of his salary for a year of consultation.
"The institutions are not sure if they're meeting the expectations of agriculture, and they want me to look at what they're doing and advise on ways they can better meet those expectations," Rominger said....
