Advisory Firm Gives High Marks to H-P, Compaq Executives.

Mar. 6--An influential advisory firm endorsed Hewlett-Packard Co.'s view of its merged future on Tuesday.
But more than anything, Institutional Shareholder Services' report endorsed H-P chief executive Carly Fiorina and Compaq Computer Corp. CEO Michael Capellas as visionaries who could get the very large job done, analysts said.
The recommendation from ISS, a small Maryland firm, could influence as much as 20 to 25 percent of H-P shareholders to vote for the merger in the company's special shareholder meeting March 19. Compaq investors are expected to approve the merger in a March 20 vote.
