FCC Commissioner Offers Thoughts on Telecom, Broadcast TV Issues in Texas.

Mar. 8--RICHARDSON, Texas--The Federal Communications Commission should review and change deregulation policies to ensure telephone companies are investing in new higher speed networks, a member of the commission said here Thursday.
Speaking to a group of telecommunications lawyers, commissioner Kevin J. Martin said the FCC shouldn't apply the telephone service rules to new broadband services.
"If we apply a mountain of common-carrier regulation with their attendant cost to broadband services, we risk stifling innovation and deployment of these services," he said.
