Texas Economist Highlights Areas of Concern in Truck Trade with Mexico.

Mar. 13--SAN ANTONIO--The Mexican trucking industry is a staple of that country`s trade with the U.S.

It's more than that.

The more than 15,000 trucks that cross the Texas border everyday from Brownsville to El Paso represent an enigma, too. The issues associated with truck trade with Mexico have confounded some of the leading business authorities on both sides of the Rio Grande for many years.

And the magnitude of the situation really came to light after 9/11, according to Pia Orrenius, a senior economist for the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas.
