Alliant Techsystems to Buy Boeing's Ordnance Business.

Mar. 19--EDINA, Minn.--Alliant Techsystems Inc. plans to buy the ordnance business of Boeing Co., which produces medium-caliber gun systems for military applications, officials from both companies said.

The financial terms of the deal were not released, but the ordnance business generates annual sales of about $40 million.

Alliant Techsystems (ATK) last year purchased Utah's Thiokol Propulsion from Alcoa Inc., and the ammunition businesses of Blount International Inc., whose brands include Federal, Speer, Weaver, Simmons and Redfield. ATK is headquartered in Edina, Minn.
