Georgia Public Service Commission Staff Advocates Atlanta Gas Light Rate Hike.

Mar. 30--Atlanta Gas Light Co. should be required to reduce rates by $42.1 million a year, or $2.08 a month for the average residential customer, the Georgia Public Service Commission staff said Friday.

The recommendation is an upward revision from the staff's previous advocacy of a $33 million rate cut, or $1.80 a month for the average customer.

The gas company has proposed a rate increase of $50.3 million, which would boost rates by $2.32 a month.
