Apr. 3--KISSIMMEE, Fla.--When the Houston Astros trained in Osceola County last month, one in every four players on the 40-man spring roster had been born in Latin America.
The team runs baseball academies cultivating local talent in the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, and a third is nearly completed in Nicaragua. The Astros' Hispanic fan base is estimated at 20 percent.
It should come as no surprise, then, that the Astros have a Spanish-language Web site.
