Tulsa, Okla.-Based Williams Cos. Files to Swap Debt, Add Financing Options.

Apr. 6--TULSA, Okla.--Williams Cos. tweaked its closely watched financial situation with two Securities and Exchange Commission filings late this week.
The company filed Friday to exchange new 9.25 percent notes with holders of Williams Communications Group Inc.'s 8.25 percent notes, Dow Jones reported.
Williams also filed Thursday with the SEC for clearance to sell as much as $3 billion in securities that could be used for repayment of debts and other corporate purposes.
Williams spokesman Jim Gipson dismissed the $3 billion filing as "a part of the normal course of the financing package that a Fortune 175 company does all the time."
