Accusations of Favoritism Made about Legislation from Florida.

Apr. 17--When the Florida Legislature approved a last-minute measure forcing Central Florida's public transit service out of the door-to-door van business, lawmakers said they wanted to help poor, elderly and disabled riders frustrated by years of bad service by the Lynx system.

But transportation and legislative insiders say the move was engineered behind-the-scenes in House Speaker Tom Feeney's office for a different reason: to give an Orlando company represented by his friend a shot at up to $47 million worth of business.
