Atlanta Gas Light Co. Shaves $5.4 Million Off Requested Rate Increase.

Apr. 24--Atlanta Gas Light Co. has scaled back its rate hike request in advance of next week's Public Service Commission ruling on the utility's rates.

AGL now wants a rate increase of $44.9 million a year, or $1.96 a month for the average household. The company had been requesting a $50.3 million boost.

The PSC staff has proposed a rate reduction of $42.1 million.

The PSC will issue the new rates Monday, with the rates going into effect Wednesday.
