Apr. 24--STEAMBOAT OWNER COUNTERSUED: American Skiing Co., the owner of Steamboat ski area, has countersued Tim Mueller and his investment company, Triple Peaks, which sued American earlier this month when the resort operator backed out of a deal to sell Steamboat. American filed a suit Tuesday in U.S. District Court asking the court to enforce the contract with Triple Peaks, which limited damages for breaking the contract to $500,000. Mueller's suit argued that American broke the contract when it backed out of the deal on the day it was scheduled to close, making the contract void.
