Brown Deer, Wis., Software Firm Catalyst International Says Losses Are Slowing.

Apr. 24--Catalyst International Inc., a Brown Deer software company, said Tuesday it is slowing its losses and is on track for profits by the end of the year.

The company said it had sales of $8.16 million in the quarter ending March 31, down about 1 percent from $8.28 million in sales a year ago. Catalyst had a net loss of $1.7 million, or 22 cents a share, which compares with a loss of $4.2 million, or 52 cents a share, in the first quarter of 2001.

"It's clear Catalyst is heading in the right direction," said James B. Treleaven, president and chief executive officer. "The plan established three quarters ago is right on track."
