Colonie, N.Y., Corporate Credit Union to Merge with South Dakota Institution.

Apr. 30--The nation's third largest corporate credit union -- the place where credit unions do their banking -- announced plans Monday to merge with a smaller institution in South Dakota.
Empire Corporate Federal Credit Union, headquartered on Watervliet Shaker Road in Colonie, said it hopes to absorb Sioux Falls-based CorpStar Federal Credit Union by the end of May. The deal must be approved by CorpStar's member credit unions and the National Credit Union Administration, an independent federal agency that supervises and insures credit unions in the United States.
