Pomona, Calif.-Based Keystone Automotive Industries Denies Liability in Suit.

May 16--POMONA, Calif.--Keystone Automotive Industries Inc. is among 44 additional defendants added to a class-action lawsuit against Erie Insurance Co., but Keystone officials say there may be some benefit to their inclusion.
The lawsuit, originally filed in May 2000, says Erie specified aftermarket replacement parts rather than original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts for insurance-covered repairs.
Erie's policies require the company to replace damaged parts with parts of "like kind and quality," which some interpret to mean OEM parts. Keystone and a number of the other new defendants distribute aftermarket replacement parts.
