Hilmar, Calif., High School Dominates Dairy Judging Competition.

May 16--HILMAR, Calif.--Holstein or Jersey, what's your preference? In this small, dairy-driven town, sentiment is split down the middle.
"People think we all like Jerseys because of the cheese company, but there are lots of Holstein people here," Hilmar High junior Arlindo Cardoso said.
While Hilmar Cheese Co. has raised the awareness of Jerseys, Holsteins remain as popular here as any place in California.
That could explain the success of Hilmar High School's FFA dairy judging team, which has become a national power this past decade.
The school, which won national championships in 1996 and 2000, has another reason to celebrate following...
