ABC Experiences Lowest-Rated Season.

May 24--A Fantasia-style nightmare ended Wednesday for Disney-owned ABC as the television network concluded the lowest-rated season in its history.

ABC posted a 6.3 household rating, down 25 percent from a year ago. The network came in third in that measurement, after NBC (8.8) and CBS (8.1) but ahead of Fox (5.7).

"Any way you count it, we have slipped this year," said ABC Entertainment President Susan Lyne, who assumed her job in January. "We did not perform well."

In a sign of how broadcast television's grip on viewers has loosened, CBS and Fox also posted their worst household ratings. NBC's weakest showing came last season.
