ReplayTV Users File Lawsuit to Protect Right to Record Programs.

Jun. 7--Five users of an advanced digital video recorder sued Thursday to make the consumer's voice heard in the big-stakes legal battle between media titans and technology companies.
The five, represented by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, asked the judge in the ReplayTV copyright-infringement case to reaffirm their rights to record television shows for more convenient viewing, to avoid commercials and to "space shift" -- or move TV shows or movies to their computers or laptops.
