Wisconsin Public Service Temporarily Halts Installation of New Meter System.

Jun. 12--Wisconsin Public Service Corp. said Tuesday it has temporarily halted installation of an automated meter reading system in northeastern and north central Wisconsin until it can determine whether an electric signal it sends could be damaging to livestock.
The utility subsidiary of WPS Resources Inc., Green Bay, has installed 200,000 automated meters across its territory. The company, which hopes to install 650,000 meters by next year, will not resume installation until state utility regulators are able to review the process this summer, WPS executives said.
