Software Giant Oracle Chooses Austin, Texas, Site for Data Center.

Jun. 19--Oracle Corp., the world's largest maker of database management software, said Tuesday that it will build a major computer data center in North Austin.

The software maker, which had $9.7 billion in revenue for the fiscal year that ended May 31, bought a building at 11400 N. Lamar Blvd. that AT&T Corp. built last year as a data center but never occupied.

Oracle is expected to invest more than $80 million in computers and communications equipment to run the data center, which will employ about 30 to 40 people.
