Jun. 30--POKER DIGEST FOLDS HAND: The poker publishing world shrank last week with the announcement that Poker Digest magazine had published its final issue.
Card Player magazine publisher Barry Shulman bought the rights to his magazine's biggest competitor from Poker Digest owner Casino Journal Publishing Group
Shulman recently told the Review-Journal that there wasn't room in the marketplace for both Card Player and Poker Digest.
"It's not a big enough market for two companies," Shulman said. "I know how hard it is for us, so it has to be even harder for them. You don't need two magazines."
