Space Shuttle Columbia's Has Crack Inside Engine, NASA Finds.

Jul. 3--WASHINGTON -- NASA engineers have found at least one crack in the liner of a fuel pipe inside the engines of the space shuttle Columbia, the third orbiter to exhibit such a problem.

Last week, the agency grounded the entire four-shuttle fleet after finding similar tiny cracks in Atlantis and Discovery.

The fourth shuttle, Endeavour, recently returned from California after its mission and will be examined later this week, NASA spokesman James Hartsfield said. Engineers had not finished the inspection of Columbia late Tuesday, so it's possible that more than one crack will be found.
