High School Seniors Land Summer Jobs at NASA.

Jul. 18--CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.--Instead of flipping burgers or running a cash register for their summer job, Tracy Harrop and Andrea Londono are making tiles for space shuttles.

Under the watchful eyes of NASA-contracted engineers, the high-school seniors are helping to compute sizes, mold the silicone forms, and fire and glaze the tiles.

It's all done in hopes of developing tiles that will form more perfectly around the curves and corners of the space shuttles.

"We've been there step by step," said Andrea, 17, of Colonial High School.

"This has been extraordinary to be able to touch the tiles and see the progress."
