Westport, Conn.-Based Terex to Buy Redmond, Wash., Manufacturing Company.

Jul. 24--REDMOND, Wash.--The purchase of Redmond-based Genie Industries by a Connecticut equipment maker will help the combined company grow, diversify and gain market share as one of the largest companies in the construction and mining business, company official say.

Genie Industries, which manufactures aerial work lifts, was one of the largest employers in the city. It is being acquired by Terex, a Westport, Conn.-based maker of construction, mining, shipping and maintenance equipment.
