Carnegie Mellon University Seeks Sites to Test Roaming Robots.

Aug. 1--Carnegie Mellon University, needing more room to test the robots developed by its world-renowned National Robotics Engineering Consortium, is looking for three or more sites of 300 acres apiece.
The search was prompted by the increase in demand for CMU-designed combat vehicles and the loss of several CMU robot-testing sites in the area, including the slag heap at Nine Mile Run and a 14-acre industrial site near the Robotics Engineering Consortium's Lawrenceville headquarters. Developers are turning Nine Mile Run into new housing, and CMU is losing the Lawrenceville parcel because the owner, The Buncher Co., wants the riverfront land for a new warehouse....
