Aug. 5--BANK ON IT: Deposit customers of Wachovia and First Union take note: Beginning today, the combining banks are introducing one line of deposit accounts and options.

The changes include perks such as eliminating a monthly fee for a debit or automated teller card. Also, there is no longer a fee on telephone banking for all accounts. And Wachovia is rolling out a special account with few or no charges for customers who want a broader relationship with the bank.

At the same time, the bank is raising some fees. The bounced check charge will increase a buck to $30. Other changes include a $5 fee for photocopies of checks and $5 for an ATM card...
