Five Johnson Controls Sites Sign with UAW.

Aug. 7--ONAWAY, Mich.--The United Auto Workers has signed agreements with five more Johnson Controls Inc. plants to represent about 700 workers at the parts maker, UAW President Ron Gettelfinger said Tuesday at a news briefing at the union's education center at Black Lake in northern lower Michigan.

The UAW struck four JCI plants for two days in June over the company's long-standing refusal to deal with the union at its plants. In a path-breaking settlement, JCI, a major worldwide parts supplier to domestic and foreign automakers, agreed to recognize the UAW at those four plants, and to remain neutral as the union sought to organize 26 other JCI plants around the country....
