Cancer-Drug Report Gives Good News to Seattle-Based Biotech Firm Dendreon.

Aug. 10--Dendreon unveiled pivotal results for its prostate-cancer treatment yesterday, and although it did not hit its goal in patients with the most aggressive tumors, it did show significant benefits for the majority of patients who have run out of other treatment options.

In what is believed to be the most detailed clinical trial to date for treatments that stimulate the immune system to fight cancer, Dendreon's product, Provenge, narrowly missed its goal of slowing the disease in 127 men in whom other treatments had failed.

However, the trial did show a statistically significant benefit in a large group of patients who have slightly less aggressive tumors....
