Siemens Lays Off Accounting Workers in Orange County, Fla.

Aug. 15--Siemens AG's pledge to bring hundreds of jobs to Orange County came undone Wednesday when the company laid off 71 workers in its accounting division and said it is reconsidering an expansion plan announced last year.
Siemens said that it would eliminate the jobs, with an average salary of about $60,000, as part of an ongoing global cost-cutting program.
The cuts were made at two Orlando offices and a third in Lake Mary.
Siemens spokeswoman Paula Davis said the work done at the office would be reassigned to a Siemens office in India.
