Aug. 18--Crescent Real Estate Equities owns a huge amount of office space in downtown Houston.

With that market in a decline, some would expect Crescent to ride out the storm, hoping to avoid catastrophe.

But Crescent officials are interested in buying even more downtown property: the 1.2 million-square-foot, 40-story Enron Center South.

The new tower is to be the prize in a high-stakes sale, akin to an auction, this fall. Mostly vacant, the building that cost $330 million to build is expected to fetch at least $100 million.
