Thai Developer Enters Hospitality Sector with Purchase of Sofitel Silom Hotel.

Aug. 21--Listed property developer Sansiri Plc has made its first step into the hospitality industry in Thailand with the acquisition of the Sofitel Silom hotel.
Sansiri has taken over the 454-room hotel on Silom Road from its former owner Richee Holding Alliance, a holding firm of developer Natural Park Plc, for 684 million baht.
With its capital raised to 21 billion baht through a recent private placement, the developer had more opportunities to enter a new business venture and diversify, said Mayta Chanchamcharat, Sansiri's vice-president for corporate finance and investor relations.
