Aug. 22--AMGEN STUDY CITED IN PRESTIGIOUS JOURNAL A two-year-old study used by Amgen Inc. to obtain regulatory approval for its new anemia drug Aranesp on Wednesday received renewed interest in a prestigious medical journal. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which last fall approved Aranesp to treat anemia associated with kidney disease, last month approved its additional use for chemotherapy patients.
A study Amgen used to make its case for the longer-lasting version of Epogen is detailed in the Aug. 21 issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. "It's a very big building block for us to get the word out to oncologists," said Amgen spokesman Michael Beckerich....
