Unit of Thai Entertainment Group Pledges to Slash Copyright-Collection Fee.

Aug. 29--Thai Copyright Collection Co (TCC), a subsidiary of RS Promotion 1992 Co, the country's second-largest entertainment group, says it will nearly halve its music copyright collection fee in a bid to end a year-long fee dispute with karaoke operators.

The cut will take effect next month, resulting in the monthly fee for jukeboxes dropping to 290 baht from 500 baht at present.

The original fee was 800 baht, but the rate was reduced to 500 baht after strong protests by karaoke operators.
