Sep. 9--BOEING LANDS CONTRACT: Boeing Co.'s Kennedy Space Center division has landed a $332 million, four-year contract to process payloads for the space shuttle and expendable rockets.
The Checkout, Assembly and Payload Processing Services (CAPPS) contract extends a long relationship between Kennedy Space Center and the giant military contractor. Boeing has processed shuttle payload since 1981 -- more than 100 flights.
Boeing also processes NASA expendable launch vehicle payloads for spacecraft that include the Mars Odyssey and Aqua.
Boeing said the CAPPS contract could be extended to 10 years, bringing its value to about $810 million.
