Home Depot Hammers Out $2 Million Purchase for Store in St. Cloud, Fla.

Sep. 13--ST. CLOUD, Fla. -- Home Depot, the world's largest home-improvement retailer, recently hammered out a $2 million purchase of 18 acres in St. Cloud to build a store in the growing community.

The location is next to the Wal-Mart SuperCenter on East U.S. Highway 192, across from a Publix being developed by Schoolfield Properties.

J.D. Payne, a Home Depot real-estate official, said the store would increase Home Depot's presence in the Orlando area. There is no talk of closing the Kissimmee store on West U.S. 192.

"We're committed to serving the Orlando, Kissimmee and St. Cloud areas," Payne said.
