Scope of White Collar Crime Changes in Computer Age.

Sep. 15--Gone are the days when major white collar crimes were pyramid schemes, check kiting and counterfeit currencies.

Today's white collar criminals are computer savvy, and they use those skills to manufacture counterfeit payroll checks, invoices, cargo bills and other such documents to defraud banks and companies, cautions Darrell Deerberg, assistant special agent in charge of the U.S. Secret Service's Cleveland field office.

"We've seen a change in white collar crimes in the electronic age," Deerberg said. "We are encountering a good number of cases involving the Internet."
