Sep. 15--Is your pension safe?
For traditional defined-benefit pensions -- which are funded by companies and insured -- I'd answer yes. But Wall Street has big concerns about them that should worry all investors.
And for 401(k) retirement savers, safety is unfortunately not a big part of the picture. It may stay that way for a while.
Uncertainty is just what there is right now.
So let's start with politics.
Washington doesn't seem anxious, anymore, to fix the 401(k) system.
