Inefficiency in Thai Foreign-Exchange Market Adds Business Risks.

Sep. 20--Inefficiency in the domestic foreign-exchange market is increasing problems for businesses and limiting the opportunities to manage currency risks, according to local economists.
Praipol Koomsup, an economist at Thammasat University, said volatility in currency rates had a considerable impact on both investment and trade flows.
But opportunities for private firms to hedge currency risks were limited due to market inefficiencies, with the hedging tools which were available coming at high spreads and costs.
