Sep. 19--Worried frowns were back on dealers' faces as markets on both sides of the Atlantic slumped. Heavy selling of financial sectors following JP Morgan's shock third-quarter profit warning and rumours that Zurich Financial Service's UKpound 1.6 billion rights issue was in trouble helped drag the feeble Footsie back below the psychologically-important 4000 level.
It closed 159.7 points down at 3865.4, while Wall Street followed Tuesday's decline of 175 points with a further early fall of 155, though it rallied later.
