Frito-Lay No Longer to Fry Snacks in Hydrogenated Oils.

Sep. 25--Another giant of the high-fat world announced Tuesday that it was bowing to the demands of the low-fat culture.
Frito-Lay -- the giant snackmaker -- said that beginning early next year, its popular Doritos, Tostitos and Cheetos brand snacks will no longer be fried in trans fatty, or hydrogenated, oils.
The company, based in Plano, Texas, also will introduce reduced fat Cheetos and Lays potato chips and has signed up Dallas-based aerobics entrepreneur Dr. Kenneth Cooper, as a consultant and to provide nutritional and exercise information on packages of the snack foods.
