President of Walt Disney World Is a Contender for Global Theme-Parks Post.

Sep. 27--Walt Disney World President Al Weiss, who began at the resort as a $2.50-an-hour service worker 30 years ago, is a contender to run Disney's global theme-park operations.
Paul Pressler, who resigned from the job Thursday, said Weiss, along with other Disney executives, is a "likely candidate."
Weiss, 48, was named Walt Disney World president in 1996 after running the parks for four years as an executive vice president. On his watch, Disney World added a fourth theme park, Animal Kingdom, in 1998; the Blizzard Beach water park in 1995; and major rides Test Track at Epcot and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney-MGM Studios.
