Bridge-Building Scion Will Be Pennsylvania Business Group Chairman.

Oct. 7--LANCASTER, Pa.--S. Dale High, who will become chairman of the state's largest business group not long before the new Pennsylvania governor takes office next January, is the chief executive of a family business empire that builds bridges.

Literally builds bridges. It is the nation's largest fabricator of heavy steel highway bridges. It also produces and sells pre-cast and pre-stressed concrete components of bridges and buildings.

High Industries Inc. is based in Lancaster. It started as a welding shop that High's father, Sanford, the son of a Mennonite farmer and lay minister, bought for $7,500 in 1931, when he was 23.
