Work at Southern Methodist University Leads to Editor's Job.

Oct. 10--Chris Peck, who came to Dallas this year to lead the creation of a digital newsroom program at Southern Methodist University, was named this week as editor of the Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tenn.
Mr. Peck, 52, said Commercial Appeal executives approached him about the job after current editor Angus McEachran announced his retirement. He will assume the post on Jan. 1.
"I felt this opportunity in Memphis was too good to let pass," Mr. Peck said.
Mr. Peck, a past president of the Associated Press Managing Editors and a longtime newspaper industry leader, was the first to hold the Belo Distinguished Chair in Journalism at the Meadows School of the Arts. Belo...
