South Dakota's Higher Education System Sees Record Enrollments.

Oct. 11--Official numbers released Thursday show that Aberdeen's Northern State University has 3,013 full- and part-time students this fall, 25 fewer than a year ago.
That's a drop of less than 1 percent at a time when the state's higher ed system as a whole is experiencing record high enrollment.
NSU's headcount translates into the equivalent of 2,188.4 full-time students, down 13.7 from fall 2001. That's also a drop of less than 1 percent.
"To be within 1 percent of last year feels to us like stability," said John Hilpert, NSU's president. "We are in the area of the state showing the greatest erosion of population, so we feel pretty good. And we...
