New Jersey Governor Backs University System Revamp.

Oct. 15--Surprising even his top aides, Governor McGreevey on Monday immediately endorsed a radical restructuring of higher education and said he wants former Gov. Thomas H. Kean to take charge of the new system.
Kean, one of the state's most popular and respected leaders more than a decade after leaving office, did not return phone calls for comment. He is president of Drew University, a private institution in Morris County.
But McGreevey said, "My relationship with Governor Kean is water torture. I keep pounding until he says yes. The torture will continue until the proper answer is received."
