Aquila to Meet $1 Billion Goal in Asset Sales, Officials Say.

Oct. 16--Aquila Inc. will meet its goal of $1 billion in asset sales by the end of the week, even if it doesn't sell Midlands Electricity, a United Kingdom utility.
The company announced Tuesday that it had sold its natural gas storage facilities in the United Kingdom for $35 million, which brings to $911 million the agreements to sell assets. About $731 million of the agreements have been closed.
A company official said the total of assets that it had sold or agreed to sell would reach $1 billion by the end of the week. The additional assets to be sold were not identified.
Reaching the goal would be a milestone in the company's efforts to revive...
