Analysts Offer Opinions on Fate of Aquila Inc. Stock.

Oct. 20--As shares of Aquila Inc. started to crumble this spring, they found a notable fan in Marty Whitman.
Whitman, manager of the $2.3 billion Third Avenue Value Fund, began buying and amassed 1.75 million shares of Aquila by the end of June. Moreover, he told Mutual Funds magazine what a wonderful stock he'd found.
Aquila topped his list of best picks in the magazine's October issue.
Former and current Aquila employees -- who have lost more than $100 million in the stock this year -- have the same prospects for recovery as Third Avenue investors.
A big difference, however, is that Whitman put only one-half of 1 percent of the Third...
